Szego Chestnut

Szego Chestnut (Castanea sp.) Very large easy to peel nut has great flavor and texture making it excellent for fresh eating. A complex cross of Japanese, Chinese and European chestnuts, Szego ripens its nuts mid season and fall free from the burr. While full testing hasn't been done it should be blight resistant. It has fertile pollen and makes a good pollinator for other varieties. Considered cold hardy to -15 degrees. (Zone 5b.)
