What a wild child of a kale! Also known as Tall Jacks, Jersey Cabbage or Cow Cabbage, this extra-tall kale is said to grow up to 20 feet in its native range, with an average of 6-12 feet. It can be a short lived perennial (3-5yrs) and can be propagated by seed or cuttings (tako cuttings and plant new ones after 3 years vigor is reduced). Also the stem is used a walking stick, once the plants are harvested, dried, and cured. Young leaves are delicious though all are edible, but bigger leaves historically used as cattle fodder. Grow the tallest kale on your block for bragging rights!
